What a mixed experience this place is!

In my experience, lunch in the An Praban bar is mediocre and expensive. I only tried it once...

On the other hand, the people are nice, the service is good, the location is stunning, and eating in the restaurant is a treat. Not quite up to the standards of the very best on Skye, but a pretty good option for lunch at any time.

The food is prepared with skill, originality and flair - without being pretentious. Do leave room for pudding - there's some really good stuff on that bit of the menu.

Pick a day when the tide is low in the afternoon, bring your wellies, and walk with care across the sand to Isle Ornsay itself. A stroll to the lighthouse is a very pleasant way to walk off at least a bit of that pudding that you've succumbed to...

Did you know?

A croft is not a building. A croft is a unit of land subject to the Crofting Acts. It may or may not have a house on it.
There are around 2,000 crofts on Skye.
