Caledonian Café, Portree

The café is the front part of the Caledonian Hotel on Wentworth Street in Portree. In there is served what is probably the best traditional breakfast in Portree. They do a decent egg, sausage, bacon or lorne roll, and a few other bits and pieces such as croissants. But it's the full breakfast that makes it worth a visit. It's freshly cooked, it's well cooked and it's served with toast, coffee and a smile.

At lunchtime you'll find a wide enough choice that everyone should find something to tempt them. And the evening menu is very good too. The ambiance - necessarily - is still basic 'café', but a few candles and beautifully presented food more than compensate. Great value too.

The Caley is open all year round.
