Columba 1400 is a leadership centre in Staffin that offers wonderful opportunities to young people from difficult backgrounds. You can find out lots about it from its own website.

More relevant to this guide is the fact that Columba 1400 has a great catering facility that is open to the public during the summer months. If you need to find a meal at the noth end of Trotternish, this should be your first choice. The cafe is in an architecturally interesting space, with outstanding views of the Trotternish Ridge and the Quiraing from its windows. The place is spotlessly clean, the service is good and the food is at the very top end of what you might expect of a 'cafe'. There is delicious home baking, one of the best (maybe the very best?) cups of coffee on Skye, burgers, a salad bar, fish, pasta, baked potatoes, pizza, haggis and loads more. Value for money is fine as well.

You can find Columba 1400 on the main road through Staffin at NG490673.
