What does that Gaelic place name mean in English?

A lot of the geographical features in Skye have Gaelic names. I have made the conscious decision to avoid anglicising them, because I think it is wrong to do so. I've never seen the point in any language. (Why Munich rather than München?)

The meanings can often be interesting though. Some are included in the main text, but if you are searching for others, the Ordnance Survey provides a glossary of Gaelic place names .
