The Alba Restaurant in Upper Breakish has been going since 2005. It is located right by the main A87, on the way into Broadford from the Skye Bridge.

Run hands-on by the owners, George (cooking) and Caroline (welcoming), the Alba is a great use of the old village school. The history of the building gives the restaurant an individual and interesting feel, and the location gives wonderful views across the islands of Broadford Bay to the Applecross peninsula and Torridon.

The oddly naff purple signs outside might lead you to expect strange and plastic food, but one you get inside all is quite different. There is excellent coffee, home baking and a good value wholesome lunch and snack menu. In the evenings there is a fuller dinner menu. Everything is built around fresh local seafood and fish, beef, game, dairy products and vegetables.

The in-house farm shop offers some take-away treats too.
