What a mixed experience this place is! Their own website is an embarrassment. It is currently (early 2008) well out of date in all respects. Lunch in the An Praban bar is mediocre and expensive. On the other hand, the people are nice, the service is good, the location is stunning, and eating in the restaurant is a treat. Not quite up to the standards of the very best on Skye, but a pretty good option for lunch at any time. The food is prepared with skill, originality and flair - without being pretentious. Do leave room for pudding - there's some really good stuff on that bit of the menu. Pick a day when the tide is low in the afternoon, bring your wellies, and walk with care across the sand to Isle Ornsay itself. A stroll to the lighthouse is a very pleasant way to walk off at least a bit of that pudding that you've succumbed to... Isle Ornsay Lighthouse
