Core Provisions
There are two branches of the Co-op on Skye, one in Portree (on the A87 Uig road north of the village) and one in the centre of Broadford by the BP petrol station. The one in Portree is the bigger, and generally better, of the two, but either of these can provide the essentials of day to day food and drink.

Fruit and Veg
A good range of fresh fruit and veg, at good prices, can be had from MacLeods Fruiterers. They are located on the industrial estate in Portree, just off the Uig road.

Meat
Although the lamb and beef at the Co-op is generally fine, a van from Grants of Dornoch calls once a month with a range of frozen, but absolutely first-class meat. In our experience, it is of utterly reliable quality.

Fish
If you have the confidence, go and buy your fish directly from the crew of one of the boats that land their catches at piers all around the island. Otherwise, there is a small retail operation on the pier at Portree or Isle of Skye Seafood on the industrial estate in Broadford.
