 Skye Serpentarium

The Skye Serpentarium is one of those places that exceeded my expectations - by a long way. It has the look of a tourist trap, but the truth is that it's a fascinating small operation run by knowledgeable and enthusiastic experts. It is fun, and it is educational.

You can handle snakes and other reptiles and learn lots about them. You can even adopt or sponsor a rescued reptile.

The Serpentarium is easy to find. It is at NG648231, next to the river just east of the centre of Broadford. The wee cafe next to it is OK too.

If you do go, please say 'Hi' to the pancake tortoises for me?

Did you know?

The Skye Bridge cost £25m to construct. It opened in 1995 and the controversial tolls were abolished in December 2004.
