Healabhal Bheag (Macleod's Table South) is the taller of the two mountains near Dunvegan commonly known as Macleod's Tables. The other, Healabhal Mhor, can be incorporated into this walk, though to tackle the pair together verges on a 'serious' walk in the context of this guide. There are several possible routes and start points for an ascent. The one described here gives a longer, more gentle climb than others, and it allows a circuit of the two summits to be completed without the need for either a second vehicle or a long road walk.
Parking is possible at the end of an old track where it leaves the Orbost road at NG256444. Follow the burn west, keeping it on your left. There is a good sheep track just above the gorge. As the track peters out, head south-west to pass close to the top of Beinn Bhuidhe (NG247436), leaving it on your left. Then follow the flat topped ridge to An Cruachan, and thence to Healabhal Bheag itself. Head to the north-east of the hill, going just right of the rock outcrop seen in the picture below. The final section is steep, but it is not too difficult. Just pick your route through the small crags with care.
Looking towards the summit
The characteristically flat summit plateau is quite boggy. The trig point near the centre is a good spot for a break, but the best views are from the south and east of the plateau, looking over Loch Bharcasaig to the beautiful islands in Loch Bracadale.

If continuing to Healabhal Mhor, leave the summit heading north-west across the bealach, simply keeping to the highest ground possible between the peaks. If returning directly, leave the summit to the south and loop around to rejoin your outward path before reaching An Cruachan.
